Vitamin E – A Skin-Friendly Antioxidant with Natural Power

Vitamin E, also known as tocopherol, is one of the key nutrients our skin truly loves. As a fat-soluble antioxidant, it means our skin can easily absorb and effectively use it to protect against harmful environmental influences – especially free radicals that contribute to skin aging and collagen breakdown.
The natural form of vitamin E is recognized by the "d-" prefix at the beginning of its name, while "dl-" denotes the synthetic version. Studies indicate that the natural form is more effective, as the body and skin better recognize and absorb it.
Vitamin E naturally occurs in various foods: vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, vegetables, grains, and even some dairy products and meats. In cosmetics, it's often used in the form of mixed tocopherols or as alpha-tocopherol, which is the most stable and active form.
Beyond its role as an antioxidant, it also has some photoprotective abilities – particularly against UVB rays. Adding vitamin E to skincare products can help reduce sun-induced damage and support the skin's natural protective function. When combined with vitamin C, their effectiveness even doubles, providing a broader spectrum of protection.
Although it's often mentioned that vitamin E may aid in wound healing and scar reduction, research has not confirmed this.
Vitamin E remains one of those classic ingredients in natural cosmetics that we simply cannot overlook – primarily due to its protective, nourishing, and skin health-maintaining capabilities.
Tocopherol, or vitamin E, can be found in our product Hemp CBD Balm No. 12.
